THANK YOU TO OUR 2024 JERSEY CITY JAZZ FESTIVAL SPONSORS!!!
HISTORY
The Jersey City Jazz Festival started with a community concert in 2013 at the Riverview Farmers Market in Jersey City Heights. The non-profit organization Riverview Jazz was formed, and in a few short years, the organization was producing up to 100 jazz events a year and all free to the public. In 2019, the yearly Riverview Festival was renamed the Jersey City Jazz Festival and drew a crowd of 30,000 attendees, making it one of the largest jazz festivals in the NYC tri-state area. Thanks to our generous donors and sponsors, we have now secured our current home, the Exchange Place waterfront, and are excited to present the most extensive Festival line-up for 2024.
WHERE
Wednesday through Friday events are held in various venues across the Journal Square and Downtown districts of Jersey City. Saturday and Sunday performances are centered on four stages at 1 Exchange Place. See our list of performances for exact locations of each.
PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION
The Festival on June 1 and 2 is very easy to access via PATH and Hudson-Bergen Light Rail (both Exchange Place stops). NJ Transit bus and NY Waterway Ferry also drop off close to 1 Exchange Place. Wed-Fri venues may be closer to the Grove Street or Journal Square PATH stops.
PARKING
There are multiple parking garages in the area, most with availability on the weekends. We suggest using SpotHero to reserve a spot in advance. Street parking is limited.
LODGING
Hyatt House in Exchange Place and Canopy in Downtown Jersey City are the hotel partners of the Jersey City Jazz Festival.

What happens if it rains?
The Festival is rain or shine, and all stages are covered. If weather prohibits our performances being outside, we will move indoors to a location near 1 Exchange Place.
Can I bring children?
Of course! There will be plenty of family fun activities at RWJ Barnabas Community Zone. At the Ford’s Gin Row, children under the age of 12 are free but must be accompanied by a paid adult at all times.
Do you need cash?
We take credit card for tickets and merchandise on site, but some food vendors may only take cash.
Can I bring my pet?
The plaza and pier are public spaces where pets are allowed. Pets will not be permitted in the tented Ford’s Gin Row Stage. Events from Wed-Fri are at the discretion of the venue.
Please note - although we love animals, this will be a crowded and loud event with lots of people. Use discretion when considering bringing your pet. If there are any issues or complaints, you will be asked to leave.
Can I bring food and drink?
Food trucks and vendors will be available to purchase food and drinks on-site.
Can I bring my own chair?
Sure thing! Just take it with you when you leave.
About the Jersey City Jazz Festival
In 2023 the Jersey City Jazz Festival found a permanent home at the newly renovated Exchange Place Plaza. Situated at a transit hub with unparalleled views of NYC, the festival was an overwhelming success. Over 15,000 people attended the 4 day festival, which incorporated venues throughout town in addition to the Jersey City waterfront.
Over 200 musicians performed during the festival, including living legends such as Eddie Palmieri and Bill Frisell. The festival also included a wide range of musical styles featuring some of the best talent in the NYC-tristate area.
